Archaeology and Heritage
The heritage and archaeological considerations associated with the two sites at Coleshill Heath Road have been carefully assessed as part of the evolution of the proposals. Neither site is subject to any specific heritage designation, and no designated heritage assets have been identified within or in close proximity to the sites. The surrounding area is characterised primarily by modern residential neighbourhoods, employment uses, and strategic infrastructure, with the sites forming part of the urban edge adjoining Chelmsley Wood and Birmingham Business Park.
The sites do not lie within a Conservation Area and are physically and visually separated from any historic settlement cores or heritage-sensitive environments. As a result, the sites are not considered to make a significant contribution to the setting or significance of any designated heritage assets.
Notwithstanding this, the proposals will continue to be guided by a sensitive and landscape-led design approach that takes account of local character and context. The future development will seek to integrate positively with surrounding built form and landscape features through appropriate scale, layout, landscaping, and materials, ensuring that the proposals protect the surrounding character.
In archaeological terms, there are no known features or constraints that would preclude development of the sites. Any archaeological considerations arising through the planning process will be appropriately addressed in consultation with the relevant technical consultees and local planning authority.
